Directing
"Creating stories that
challenge, inspire,
and bring people
together."
Every voice unlocks a story.
"I thought I was a HORRIBLE director.
Five years later, I was offered a job where I
had to direct. That job was with the
Tony Award-winning theatre The Hartford
Stage Company. Here it is, more than 20
years later and I've directed every year since!"
The set of "Death by Dessert" directed by Fredreka "Dreka" Irvine
For me, directing is about more than staging a production. It's about creating an environment where stories come alive and people discover what they're capable of.
Whether working with experienced performers or students stepping onto the stage for the first time, I believe every rehearsal is an opportunity to cultivate creativity, collaboration, confidence, and joy. I strive to create productions that honor the story while encouraging each performer to bring their unique voice to the process.
Theatre has the power to build community, spark imagination, and leave lasting impressions. It's a privilege to help bring those stories to life.
